Brief Description:The Colorado Cycling Festival is riding, racing, and entertainment in one of the highest-rated active outdoor communities in the nation, featuring the outstanding Rist Canyon Road Ride for all cycling enthusiasts. The Colorado Cycling Festival inspires the Fun Factor of cycling for a positive influence on the quality of life for the community and beyond
The course provides the ideal terrain, location and distance to be an established icon of cycling events in Colorado. Quality rider support and enjoyable perks encourage participation creating a prominent celebration of cycling. The ascent up Rist Canyon is exhilarating and challenging enough to enthuse even the most seasoned cyclists, yet the moderate length of the overall course makes the event attractive for many recreational cyclists. The festival takes place in one of the more scenic areas of the country and supports the Rist Canyon Fire Department for protection of natural resources.
Don't forget, if you are interested in the Woman's Riding Clinic this class is for all levels of riders.
Course:
This unique loop course allows the citizen riders to watch the start of the ACA race, then begin their own ride following the same course, though 17 miles shorter, and many completing their ride in time to watch the professional racing action at the finish line. Front row center spectator excitement, all the while enjoying the finish line celebration BBQ! Pretty cool. The citizens ride starts immediately following the last race category start. Citizen riders (approximately 50 miles) will depart the stadium to the east gate #2 and ride north on Overland Trail to Bingham Hill Road; west through Bellvue and up Rist Canyon to Stove Prairie; south to Masonville; east to Horsetooth Reservoir; north on Centennial Road CR23 over Spring Canyon Dam; east on CR42 Dixon Canyon Road; north on Overland Trail (on the left shoulder against the flow of vehicle traffic) for several hundred yards to Hughes Stadium gate #2; west to the start/finish line. Racers (approximately 65 miles) are on the same course as the citizens bike tour, but after crossing the Spring Canyon Dam, the race will continue north on Centennial Road to Bingham Hill Road; east to Overland Trail; south to Hughes Stadium gate #2; west to the start/finish line.
