Reflectors are similar to lights, except they only are illuminated in the dark when a light hits them. Although it is not as fancy as flashers or a light, reflective tape or reflectors are just as effective at alerting drivers to your presence when their headlights make them stand out. Make sure that you place tape or reflector fixtures lower on your bike, as that is where headlights likely will be pointing.
Various safety accessories are available for you to wear. These include high visibility clothing and eye glass and helmet mirrors. You may feel silly wearing them, but they provide you extra visibility and protection from accidents.
Clothing you wear while biking should be optimally comfortable, and lack long strings or things that can become caught anywhere on your bike. Many sporting apparel brands have clothes specifically for bicycling. Look out for form fitting items that will minimize wind resistance. Gloves, knee pads, and helmets are also ideal, and it is even against the law to ride a bike without a helmet in many cities and towns.
Although there are many choices out there on the market, consider items that fit within your budget and provide the utmost safety and comfort. You do not want to take a risk while out on the road on your bike. Carefully choose great safety and performance bike accessories.

The Colorado Cycling Festival and 99.9 The Point introduces the inaugural Vintage Bike Cruiser Tour.

Come out for an evening of music food and bikes visit with 99.9 The Point radio station from 5-10pm. The Vintage Museum Tour Ride is a 1.5-2 hour cruiser ride from Old Town Fort Collins(Grand Central Station) along the Old Town area streets. Enjoy a casual vintage cruise through the Old Town Streets of Fort Collins. Midway through the event we will stop at Lee’s Cyclery to view a rare selections of vintage bikes and an authentic early 1900 Tour De France race bikes. The ride ends with a celebration concert and special event dinner in Old Town.(Dinner is $15.00)Dinner 6-8:00pm. Menu Picture Click Here

Be Green….. Being green is more important than ever in our ever growing/shrinking world. The Colorado Cycling Festival will always strive to keep our community as sustainable as possible, Supporting earth friendly companies through free booths for all environmental, sustainable product companies, world friendly education programs, non-profits and all alternative energies companies. The CCF goal is to leave the smallest foot print on our community possible while helping others think about global consciousness in saving our planet.

We are asking that you help by keeping your foot print as small as possible as well. CCF is Striving for zero refuge and alternative purchasing habits and transportation for running the festival. You can: Car pooling to events, using hybrid cars, using environmentally friendly products not only at our festival, but in everyday life. We will do our best to keep the festival and all the refuge in recycling, or in bio product lines as much as possible. We have also made it easy to use your bike while being here for general transportation. Each rider packet will have a city bike map compliments of the City of Fort Collins Bike Transportation division

The Rist Canyon Premier Road Ride! 44.6 miles of some of the best mountain views in Colorado. Be part of the exhilarating beauty of the Northern Colorado Mountains. Ride along mountain passes that open to increadable wild flower filled valleys of the Buckhorn Canyon Area. Making your way through canyon cut outs with bubbling mountain brooks to set your pace to. If you are looking for a challenge at any level and views to match, the Rist Canyon Road Ride is one not to miss, The ascent of the Alp du Rist 9.4 mile climb will leave you with a feeling of accomplishment and pride.

Not to mention to experience the ACA Pro Bike Racers, Inaugural Rist Canyon Road Race, an motion/green earth expo, live music, high quality food and three of our local breweries will be serving local micro beer; New Belgium, Fort Collins Brewery & Odell Brewery. (Expo, Festival time 10:00am-3:00pm).

The Rist Canyon Road Ride is comparable to experiencing a 75-90 mile rolling ride. The Rist Ride has excellent paved roads

All riders must start prior to 8:15am. Average course completion of 2.5 to 4.5 hours for recreational cyclists. All riders must be off the course by 1pm. The ride includes two well stocked rest stations with energy replacing refreshments. There will also be a water stop half-way up the Rist Canyon ascent.

A travel distance of 55 miles North of Denver

Citizen riders (44.60 miles) will depart the stadium to the east gate #2 and ride north on Overland Trail to Bingham Hill Road; west through Bellvue and up Rist Canyon to Stove Prairie; south to Masonville; east to Horsetooth Reservoir; north on Centennial Road CR23 over Spring Canyon Dam; east on CR42 Dixon Canyon Road; north on Overland Trail (on the left shoulder against the flow of vehicle traffic) for several hundred yards to Hughes Stadium gate #2; west to the start/finish line.
